Ways To Become More Of An Extrovert

What does it mean to be extroverted
Being extroverted means being outgoing and talkative. This person is very social and can navigate social situations confidentially. Extroverted people are more capable of speaking to others with increased confidence. They tend to have many friends and make new ones easily.
How to be more extroverted
If you’re trying to become more of an extrovert, here are some strategies that might help you achieve this.
1. Put yourself in easy social situations first
At the start of your journey to become an extrovert try putting yourself in social situations which are easier or more comfortable for you. This is an excellent way not only to practice but also to be able to gradually work your way into extroversion. When you’re comfortable, you’re less likely to be distracted by other external variables and you can more easily converse and engage confidentially with others.
Try starting off by being an extrovert around people you know and are at ease with socially. Maybe try your family or close friends. Slowly work your way up and then start making efforts to socialize with people you are not as comfortable with but still at ease around. Continue expanding outward from your immediate social circle.
Also try starting off in social environments that you can confidently navigate. Your home or somewhere close to home that you are familiar with, for example. Maybe host a get-together at your place and bring a few close friends. Your surroundings being familiar can help put your mind at ease and allow you to build your social confidence in a safer venue.
2. Practice being extroverted
Practice how you will carry and present yourself around others. You can do this in a mirror to assess your body language and facial expression to make sure they exude confidence.
You can record yourself talking alone to hear the inflection and confidence in your voice and analyze what (if anything) needs improvement. It’s also a good idea to get the help of someone you trust so you can practice with an actual person. Ask them for honest feedback so they can tell you if they were able to detect confidence and comfort or if they think there’s something you should fix.
3. Have something interesting to say
Being interesting tends to naturally attract positive attention which you can capitalize on. Having conversation topics ready allows you to maintain conversations which could help you grow your social circles as well as be more social overall. You’re also more likely to be natural and confident when you are talking about something you have familiarity with.
What you talk about should be interesting but uplifting – avoid conversations about crime, chaos in society or anything controversial like politics. Instead, focus on technology, travel destinations, foods/recipes or similar topics. Build up your knowledge in many areas to make yourself more capable of contributing and even leading conversations.
4. Be high energy (and conserve your energy when needed)
An extrovert should demonstrate excitement and should be passionate when engaged in social interaction. Lifting your energy levels can make a big difference in helping you achieve this. Maintain high energy levels as best you can during social interaction. Before you go somewhere or host guests, walk around with confidence and take up space. Puff your chest out slightly and put yourself in a good mood. This can help get you pumped for socializing.
Also important: assure you are sufficiently rested so as to maintain your energy levels. I remember I used to sometimes go to social gatherings after a night of poor sleep and I would be ridiculously boring. Make sure you sleep enough and don’t forget to charge your social battery. Even extroverts can get tired of socializing if they do it too long or too often. Don’t be disappointed if you have to spend time alone once in a while.
5. Don’t feel too much embarrassment
Something that might be holding you back from being the extrovert you should be is excessive shyness or embarrassment. There is nothing wrong with feeling these but let’s avoid making them too excessive. If you feel embarrassed about the smallest stuff you’re less likely to let your personality shine through. You might hold yourself back from doing or saying things that actually make you more outgoing.
Don’t get me wrong, embarrassment is useful and we should all carry some of it with us. The goal isn’t to be completely shameless and act in an odd manner. Instead, you should be striving to have the right amount of embarrassment while not allowing it to hold you back.
6. Use small talk
When in doubt, just use small talk. It is one of the easiest and least energy expansive ways to engage with others socially. You don’t need to be overly creative or full of charisma to make small talk – you can just do it. It’s often low stakes and doesn’t require excessive social commitment. Make use of small talk as a tool to practice extroversion, to work your way into more extroverted scenarios and to build new connections.
